It seems that nowadays you have to look underground or on different social networks to seek the newest and hungriest talent. What caught me about Ila Da Sandman’s music is the fact he has a NY flow with a NY sound. You can tell that he also enjoys doing hip hop which was what helped first Indie album First Strike do solid numbers.
When Sandman announced that he was dropping a sequel to First Strike, I told him that he needed to smack niggas upside the head with a banger to re-introduce yourself and remind cats that you nice with it. so he followed the game I gave him and this is where this track Thats What I Do was originated.
Sage Mckenzie(whom was on the track) did a great job at handling this. Backed by a sample from the WWE superstar Mark Henry and production style like production like that of one of those late 90s East Coast bangers, Sandman lets the game know that he’s ready to take off heads and used Henry’s slogan as the main hook of the song. If you loved First Strike then First Strike II looks to be on some next level shit!
