When Kurupt and Daz reunited in 2005, The material thats been coming from the DPG camp has been hit and misses with flashes of brilliance here and there. Daz and Kurupt’s chemistry which was magical before came across as forced during some of these albums along with them steady trying to stay relevant by pleasing the South.
But with the sun slowly shining against on the West, Its the perfect time for Daz to actually drop something to bring back the core that tha Dogg pound once lost. People were tired of hearing Daz and Kurupt constantly cater to the radio songs and south so Daz wanted to come back in a major way. Not only did he go back to the original west coast funky sound that made him a name throughout but he also brought OG. dope rhyme slanger W.C. for a collaboration album titled Who Got Some Gangsta Shit.
This album is everything that their core truly missed from Daz and the West Coast within the past decade. Even though its funky, It doesn’t sound dated. You get that classic Daz Dilly sound on Late Nite, Dont Get Wet, Stay Out of my Way and the album titled Track.
But the main star of this album is no question W.C. whom like fine whine gets better within age. The O.G. breezes through these funky tracks left and right with Daz doing a great job of playing the partner in rhyme while supplying the funk. Guest features aren’t really many aside from Butch Cassidy whom continues to show how underrated he is. He gives Moves I make a nice breezy hook along with Snoop Dogg putting back on his Crip colors on Stay Out of My Way.
Even though people may complain about the subject manner going back to the late 90s, This is the exact album that the fans of these two wanted to hear. If your a fan of that west coast funky sound and want a dose of nostalgia then this is for you!
