Floyd Mayweather Vs Manny Pacquaio. Will the Superfight ever happen?

Just watching Shane Mosley get decimated by Pac-Man during last Saturday’s fight further incited the question in people’s minds. When will this fight ever happen? This has the potential to be the biggest grossing fight in this decade. Ever since Tyson/Holyfield have we seen such a highly anticipated fight and due to politics from both camps we may never see it.

Floyd Mayweather say what you want about his mouth is probably pound for pound the best boxer of this decade. He has backed up all of his trash talk and remains undefeated as of now with a 42-0 record. Floyd has a way of decapitating his opponents with his shielding defense and speedy punches. Just watching the way Floyd run through guys like Hatton, Mosley, De La Hoya, Zab Judah, and many others were very impressive considering these guys were top-notch fighters.

However according to many boxing analysts, whats haunting Floyd from reaching that legacy of a legendary fighter is his reputation of “ducking fights” He has been accused for many years of ducking fighters during their prime and taking them on when they are down on their luck or washed up past their prime. The Media and critics alike have given Floyd a hard time despite the fact that his wins have been very impressive against these type of fighters. It seemed to have worked in favor for Floyd’s image as a boxing villain and it made people want to see him lose but in the long run it may be hurting his credibility.

The Rise of Manny Pacquaio

Feeling like he accomplished everything and had nothing to prove, Floyd Mayweather retired from boxing in 2008 to focus more on his promotion company. With De La Hoya aging, Floyd retiring, Hatton being dusted and other great fighters being unable to draw tickets. Boxing was looking for a new savior and that man was Manny “Pac-Man” Pacquio

Pac-Man was a great representative for boxing in the eyes of many promoters. He had a huge following in the Philipines where he’s also a Politican whom got elected to the House of Representatives in the 15th Congress of the Philipines, He had a musical background and was also a film maker as well. He was also a very humble individual that was easier to market than many. But what attracted many people to Pac-Man wasn’t his image but his exquisite and seemingly indestructible boxing ablity.

Over within the past decade, Pac-Man became the first boxer to win 10 heavyweight titles and came up from a long way from his classic bout with Eric Morales. Pac-Man destroyed De La Hoya, Hatton, Morales and Miguel Cotto to surpass a retired Floyd Mayweather and would be crowned the “new” #1 Pound for Pound fighter in the world. This prompted(along with I.R.S. and legal fees) Floyd to leave retirement early and reclaim his spot by outboxing Marquez and Shane Mosley proving he’s not ready to give up his position. The stage for the fight was set.

Will this Fight ever happen?

It seems that the disrespect among both camps have escalated. Bob Arum has run a smear campaign against Floyd calling him a chicken for “ducking” Manny(See the Pic above). Floyd demanded that Manny takes a blood test accusing him of using enhancement drugs(steroids) or else he wouldn’t take the fight. Manny refused feeling disrespected and wanted to take the Mayweather camp to court alleging that they made false and defamatory statements accusing him of taking performance-enhancing drugs. It seemed that with a lot of politics that this fight may never occur.

Floyd then decided to go on his U stream and take the disrespect of Pac-Man and Bob Arum to the next level. Calling him out, disrespecting his heritage and his manhood. Pretty low blows but it caught interest nevertheless of people hoping this fight will go down.

While Mayweather relaxed and decided to take shots. Pac-man continued to keep his momentum up as he won his next 4 fights. Most recently over an over the hill washed up Shane Mosley. Whenever Bob Arum is a factor of Floyd refusing to negotiate, Floyd talking reckless over U stream or Pac-Man being scared to take a blood test. These three are ruining a possible exciting moment that the sport of boxing has lacked in years since Tyson due to petty bickering and egotism.

My Opinion on the issue

I’m a Floyd Mayweather fan. Been defending him off and on for the past 6 years, I respect Manny Pac-man’s Pacquio’s style of boxing as well and I feel that he’s very exciting to watch. But enough of the trash talk. Just give the fans what they want and FIGHT DAMMIT! I’ve never seen two boxers so damn scared of each other in my life!
What is so hard to just calling your agents? deciding on a purchasing purse for both of the fighters, steroid testing both of them cleanly and then getting it on?

These two niggas are DISCRACING boxing with these bitchmade antics. You think Muhammad Ali, Sugar Ray Robertson, Mike Tyson, Hopkins, Roy Jones or even De La Hoya’s flake ass would keep the fans on their heels like this?

Both of these guys are taking easy fights for some odd reason to avoid crossing paths so its obvious that if one of them lose, SOMEBODY is gonna take a serious ego hit. But as fans of the sport, I could careless about ego, money, politics or none of that. I want to see a fight between two of the best so both of y’all need to shut up with the lip service, sign that contract and GET IT ON!

Forget all of this politics, We aren’t accountants or managers, We’re fans and I feel that both of these guys egos are costing us on what could have been our biggest fight since Tyson-Holyfield. This could be our generations Rumble in the Jungle. Somebody call DON KING!
